Recruiter preparation

Do not enter a serious conversation without written questions.

A recruiter or career adviser can be helpful, but the applicant must still think clearly. Preparation protects your decision.

Recruiter meeting preparation

Ask better questions.

Written questions create better decisions.

What to prepare before the meeting

  • Your top three reasons for considering service.
  • Your preferred roles and your backup roles.
  • Your medical, education and citizenship questions.
  • Your deal-breakers and uncertainties.
  • A written note page for obligations, contract length and training route.

Essential questions

Role and selection

  • Which roles are open to someone with my background?
  • What test scores or qualifications improve my options?
  • What are the most common reasons applicants are delayed?
  • How do I compare similar roles before choosing?

Obligation and reality

  • What commitment am I making if selected?
  • What happens if I fail a stage of training?
  • What are the physical and medical expectations before training?
  • What should I verify in writing before signing?

After the meeting

Do not rely on memory. Write down what was said, what remains unclear, which official links you were given, and what your next action is. A serious applicant creates a paper trail for their own clarity.
